In this week's reading, Luis is continuing on that good path he has started on. He finally realizes that he does not want to be a part of the gang life anymore. After suffering for so long, he's finally seen that it's a dark path that no one should take. Him along with others start to turn their lives around and seek help to make something of themselves. I think that this is really important because I strongly believe that you can make mistakes, but you're only a failure if you never try to fix them. Like they say, it doesn't matter where you came from. So what if Luis was a part of a gang as a teenager and made dumb mistakes. The fact is that he became a great writer for his raw talent; and that's what counts. So I think it's important to learn and note that the past is the past for a reason, in the end what counts is what you make of yourself by the end of your life, not the mistakes you made when you were young. What are your thoughts?
I am loving my book because it's great to see Luis' progression throughout the story and I can't wait to see what comes next. I already know a bit about his current life as it was part of the preface, but I don't know where exactly he will end his book. It's so interesting to read I forget it's a nonfiction book, and I can't believe I'm almost done with it.... Anyways hope you enjoyed this week's post! Thanks for reading! :)
